Front Page Information: |
Ingatestone Parish May 2nd 1831, in the hundred of Chelmsford in the County of Essex. |
Additional Information: |
The number "20" is written beside the names of many people. They were likely over 20 years old, not exactly 20 years old.
Image 11 includes a guide for understanding brackets: "Pull'd Down" is written to the left of the bracket; "Cott'ge adjoining" is written to the top right of the bracket; "Cott'ge pull'd down" is written to the bottom right of the bracket.
Many households resided at a cottage, house, or farm that belonged to another designated person who likely did not live there. For searching purposes, these owner's names have been included in the household. Other homes had a long-standing surname associated with it that did not pertain to any particular person living at that time (see https://doi.org/10.1179/vea.2000.31.1.11 for examples).
